The Tipping Point

The Tipping Point by Jesse Scobie

Your life has been smooth sailing so far
You grew up wealthy, a mansion, a sports car
You aced tests in school, they were never hard
But, you never quite discovered who you are

Making friends was easy, wherever you went
Lots of girlfriends, didn’t matter who was spent
When things went south, all you did was vent
And now you’re grown up, it’s time to leave the tent

Chorus:
It’s the tipping point, the day we all must face
The tipping point, where we all can find our place
Time can only tell when we reach our goals
From that moment on, the truth lies in our souls

It’s the tipping point, the day we finally all realize
The tipping point, what we’re doing with our lives
The stars hold the future, what will they bring
The tables are turning, it’s our time to sing

We go through our lives, never being satisfied
We thought college was an answer, but not a free ride
So we slave away each day, in the factory lines
The news says “We’re just a product of the times”

Our mothers and our fathers somehow found a light
To succeed through the perilous, frightening nights
I believe I can see the tip of this iceberg
Our generation’s meaning will finally be heard

Chorus:
(same chords as before)
It’s the tipping point, the day we all must face
The tipping point, where we can all find a place
Time can only tell, when we reach our goals
From that moment on, the truth lies in our souls

It’s the tipping point, the day we finally all realize
The tipping point, what we’re doing with our lives
The stars hold the future, what will they bring
The tables are turning, it’s our time to sing

Great Expectations

"GREAT EXPECTATIONS" By Jesse Scobie

Verse I:
One door opens, the other closes
Always the wrong time and place
You had visions of where you would be
But now they’re gone without a trace

I see a boy in the mirror, with a smile on his face
He’s dreaming of playing at Carnegie Hall
He’s dreaming of the girl he’ll take to the ball
I wish I had the heart to say it’s not a waste

Chorus I:
We all have great expectations of where we think we should be
We all start on different foundations, but we share a common creed
Goals of success, helping the world from sea to shinning sea
To fulfill those great expectations, rising above is the key
To following your dreams

Verse II:
She’s been having the hardest time
Trying to remember all of her lines
He’s running through hell just to find
Money to put food on the table

I see a family of three, laughing in the park
They’re walking their dog on the street
While a homeless man eats for free
I see the world rising, past the dark

Chorus II:
We all have great expectations of where we think we should be
We all start on different foundations, but we share a common creed
Goals of success, helping the world, breaking the chains to be free
To fulfill those great expectations, we change what we need
And live out our dreams..

Clouds

"Clouds" By Jesse Scobie
Verse 1
Nobody can stop the falling of the rain
Or heal the broken-hearted pain
The thunder crackles, lightning strikes
And you don’t know what it fees like

Climb
To carry the burden of others in your head
Even when there’s sunlight, you feel dead
The past never quite disappears in here
The future is not always so clear

Chorus 1
Clouds fill your mind and keep you lost
You can’t find the time to look ahead
Clouds fill your mind and you feel cross
Too much confusion to what’s been said

Verse 2
Everybody wants to have a sunshine day
Creativity to share in everything you say
But sometimes precipitation is in the way
And you must let clouds fall where they may

Climb 2
To carry the uncertainties of others in your head
The feeling you get when you struggle out of bed
The future you is guiding your new path
So sit back in the rain and dance and laugh
At the

Chorus 2
Clouds fill your mind and keep you lost
You can’t find the time to look ahead
Clouds fill your mind and you feel cross
Too much confusion to say what’s said

Through Wires and Memos (The Edward Snowden Story)

THROUGH WIRES AND MEMOS (The Edward Snowden Story) Jesse Scobie

Fmin Ab Db7 Cmin7 B7
They taught you to spy
Then they taught you to lie
It doesn't matter when you're
Working for God's side

Fmin Ab Db7 Cmin7 B7
They taught you to steal
Conceal what you feel
You had to stop cause
You're too nice a guy

Fmin Ab Db7 Cmin7 B7
So where do you go?
When you can't come home
It's good to see in the news
That you are not alone

Fmin Ab Db7 Cmin7 B7
They will try to persuade
Other countries to obey
Just don't give up and
Let them have their way

E7 G#min Gmin F# min A
There's only so much you can do
As a patriot caught in a political zoo
Someday, freedom will mean more than 50 stars
It's been over 2 centuries, but we still gotta go far

Fmin Ab Db7 Cmin7 B7
Stuck in the airport in Moscow
You hear news with doubts
That you can find amnesty
Deep in the far south

Here comes the Government charges
Waiting till a force barges
Onto your plane or train
You're now a target

The blind lady justice dies
Behind federal office ties
That see every American
As possible enemy eyes

For you now to succeed
You must kill all the weeds
That formed our security into
A pyramid of greed

E7 G#min Gmin F# min A
There's only so much you can do
As a patriot caught in a political zoo
Someday, freedom will mean more than 50 stars
It's been over 2 centuries, but we still gotta go far

Don't shed that justice dream too soon
We must kill the elephant in the room
NSA can't keep running their play
Lies and corruption is not here to stay

Not Quite A Saint, In A Prison (poem)

Not Quite A Saint, In A Prison Bys Jesse Scobie It all started in the summer of ’08, I played games with Cindy at the docks Worked nights at the Home Depot Parents started noticing the stocks I wrestled with the varying thoughts Of being young , but old enough to spot The setting sun Played weekend shows in Adams Morgan Aimless joyrides, cruising down 355 I jumped at the chance to break free From dead end classes with you at MC But in the end the curses you can’t see Drove us from point A to point B Always on the run It was a time of hope and change When a black man could finally win But dead soldiers kept-a-piling on In that bloody overseas, desert of sin A coward, I could never just give in The sacrifices I took from the chin Of a boy still aching Vanessa, flew with me into the stars Voyages taken on vagabond memories Drinking to non-sense and happy sickness New Years eve evolves again to January U2 was right, nothing changes actually I’m a musician and writer secondary First, I’m just faking So you made it to the big day now With your gown, cap and useful degree Shaping your future in golden plastic bricks Fortune favors the blind, who never see Opportunity in a bottle of black tea Soaking up the frigid air, I offer my 2 cents free Long before I arrive Work is harder to find, creativity is foolish Mad Men has us falling back to elegant bullshit Drop the suit, tie and grab a Gentlemen’s Jack Because it’s either a socialist or a Mormon to sit For the next four years of jumping in the pit That burns only those who care enough to hit Before they swallow pride.
