Light of a Dark Moon (poem)

Light of a Dark Moon By Jesse Scobie

I saw the fire in my room slowly die
I did not know why the fire already died
I did not know why the sky soon cried
In the light of a dark moon on a midsummer's night.

Your body was soft, your earrings glowed
Asleep by the window sill where the river flowed
Your eyes were still but your hands would show
The light of a dark moon in a forgotten show

The pain secedes over time and dust
Pleasure knows no ending nor does lust
How can you look at me with such disgust
I was just a light of a dark moon of trust

As we sit here silent on a Venetian cruise
You pick rose pedals as your hear the news
And realize in broken dreams you still choose
To be the light of a dark moon in a sea of blues
