The Last Day (poem)

The Last Day By Jesse Scobie

Forgotten gulf twas' so crimson clear
I feel the oil drench the water tides
The bombs explode so insincere
Turn into ashes drifting through my eyes

Children pull me back in time
With race car feelings; shattered laughter
The girl kisses the boy so kind
As Hitler bathes for ever after

Sex and berries drip past dawn
To frighten your face and mind
Jesus knew we were just pawns
Our bodies; nothing divine

Coolness is what kills beauty
Lift a finger burning high
Whispers breathing so truly
What is past is in the sky

To wash away tears
To flash away hatred
To sleep away death
To love away life and loneliness with no regret
To sing one's song in the heat of night when all is dead
and to kiss the stars till sunrise fills thy head.
