A Lover's Memories

A Lover’s Memories By Jesse Scobie

Well there’s old Gin smokin’ ponies off the eastern shores of tomorrow
While the blind man climbs the leaning ladder asking “What can I borrow?!”
The sheriff sips pancakes through a straw while drinking Jack Daniels with a spoon
Yes he’s one crazy loon, who just knows too much too soon

Emerald queen of Sicily flying on an airplane made of bricks
She lands in the corner of your eyes, in the land of the sick
The jester whispers to her ear “What’s the matter my lady?”
She says “If I don’t find happiness I think I’m going to go crazy!”

You just sit there in your chair wishing you could feel her affection
The silhouette of her soul rises in the east of her reflection
But the girl you once knew is now far from resurrection
And your love for her has taken a brand new direction

Countesses write mantras on the wall saying “Live and let live”
But the tanks and canons tear down the meaning with “Who gives”
As the lives of the aristocrats and socialists are driven to shame
And the bumbling fool businessmen there are still the ones to blame

Vagabonds sail to sea in cigarette lighters full of bananas
They all stand naked with eye patches and wear bandanas
Wizards of the ancient times meet them in the mystery dust
But they soon control their minds with visions of pure lust

You just stand there on your porch wishing you could feel her touch
Her naked body waits at the long lost door where you lost so much
Another girl comes out wearing only leopard skin fur speaking Dutch
Saying “Forget that girl babe, you know I’m the one you long for such”

Well the paintings of Da Vinci lie on the walls of the flowers
Why you drink your vodka martini and pretend you have superpowers
Floating on your boat far across the sky with aliens riding fireflies
The sunset explodes Christmas tree ornaments that bright your eyes

Simple-minded folks talking about blues from the past
Saying “You know life is short, you better hurry fast!”
The children are singing through transcendental meditation
To save your emotion’s memories from incineration

You sleep there on your bed wishing you could make love to her soul
But the leaves have fallen off the trees that once had flowed
Through the sentimental feelings and experiences you sold
To the gatekeeper who's taken your key which he now holds

Both Our Souls

Both Our Souls

Cry out into the windy night babe
If you’re lonesome and need someone to hold you
To escape reason to fight, a place to feel alright
A place where our bodies just grow anew

Free yourself from your long chains babe
If you’re searching for the noble truth
To ease your pain, to step out of the rain
Where you where just a forgotten sleuth

For you know you need it now babe
You know you need to let it go
And the only place you can do it
Is in the heart of both our souls

Breathe into the spirit air babe
For you know you cannot see why
The demons remain, the seamen are slain
They fight for your soul while you sigh

Sleep through the windy night babe
It cools the heat from your scorn
Social suicide endures, but there is a cure
To save you from a life that’s full of mourn

For you know you need it now babe
You know you must let it go
And the only place you can do it
Is in the heart of both our souls

The doors are sleeping still babe
As you search for reason to leave
They mislead you and deceive you
Where the orphans live and grieve

I told you “Stay the course” babe
But you were just too deaf and blind
So now you’re stuck with deep remorse
So I’ll give one more chance to unwind

For you know you need it now babe
It is time for you to let it go
And the only place you can do it
Is in the heart of both our souls

Mister Purple Kangaroo

Mister Purple Kangaroo By Jesse Scobie

Mister purple kangaroo, what else must I do for you
I’m tired of playing your mind games

Mister purple kangaroo, I’m getting really sick of you
I want you out of my head and out of my life
(clarinet solo)
He says walk to the end of cannery road
You’ll find a brown hut with a horny old toad
He’ll tell you where to find mistress madam Caroline

She’ll be tanning in the sun looking so fine
She says” Go down the alley and find mister Grover”
He lies underneath four thousand four leaf clovers
He’ll tell where you can find Mr. Egg-man

But Mr. Grover says he died in a frying pan
So instead he tells you where to find the mayflower queen
She lives in a castle made out of green beans
But the Queen wasn’t there, nowhere to be seen
and you don’t know what to do
(honky-tonk piano solo)
Mister Purple Kangaroo, everyone wants a piece of you
There’s nowhere else left for you to hide

Mister Purple Kangaroo, nothing you ever say is true
Now you have to pay the price for what you’ve done

He says he doesn’t need to hear the other side
As long as he just buries his enemies alive
He and the foxes make up their own rules

They expect the public all to act like fools
But they don’t know there’s a new revolution
With people who want a peaceful solution
(clarinet solo)
With people who want to save the world
Make a bright future completely unfurled

Mister Purple Kangaroo, its over, that’s it no more of you
Your finished and that statement’s true

The King With No Horse

The King With No Horse By Jesse Scobie

From the window of the highest tower
The lone king watches the world
In his fist he holds all his power
From his tongue he bleeds poison swirls

Each morning he wakes with the sunrise
And puts on his crown made of thorns
As dozens more of the “other” people die
And the county gets more and more torn

The peasants question the king’s principles
As his court points out the thieves and the liars
The truth is oblivious, they feel they are invincible
All they needed was the twin towers fire

The public was full of shock and deep grief
It was just what the king and his men all needed
To carry out their “plan” and spread their beliefs
Chaos and bloodshed were the plants they seeded

The dark bearded man in silken white robes
Is seen as the horrific attack’s mastermind
His terror of fear affects all around the globe
And the king has the rules of war redefined

Soon they send out the armies and fleets
To dissolve the land of the terror kings
But years later they only find defeat
For the terror king has escaped with sting

This failure promotes the king to act “quick”
And bring out his true plan, a brand new attack
For the first war was forced, just a trick
To gain support of the people with false facts

At fist the public listen with caution and fear
They are spoon feed illusion and lies
The king’s business oil ties find many ears
But it’s too late for its now raining fire in the sky

The king rides his horse and leads the forces
To strike lighting against the innocent lives
The buildings burn like electric torches
As insurgents cut the progress with knifes

The illegal war has continued for years
While the king’s court squanders their resources
The created chaos to the worse of all fears
Yet it’s citizens still enlist in their forces

The king still rides out to the battlefield
But now his horse refuses to move
So instead he rides a ox made of steel
Just so he won’t be the one who will lose

But the king’s reign is coming to an end
A new leader of the land will be chosen
But the wars and suffering will not bend
Just for a new direction that already seems frozen

A new horse is busy being trained
For the show in the final hour
This time the horse has more brains
And this time the king has no tower

Jesse Scobie's Dream

Jesse Scobie’s Dream

Chords: Emaj Amaj Dmaj

Well last night I had a very strange dream
Some parts were good, some parts were mean
Some made no sense, others were obscene
And nothing was what it seemed

It all started when I was riding on a train
I was heading for Paris then biking to Spain
I saw two old men one of them had a cane
He was speaking in tongue he must have been insane

So I left them there and went down on Abbey road
To see how many records the Beatles really sold
I saw John and Paul they said they were cold
I noticed it was snowing or so I was told

So I said “Hop inside my car, in here it’s nice and warm”
And we drove real fast from the mighty storm
we bumped into Elvis he was watching cable porn
he and Jesus were fighting to see which one was really reborn
(harmonica solo)

Then someone hit me on the head with a baseball bat
I woke up the next morning in someone else’s flat
I saw Jimi Hendrix playing with some old cats
I saw people making love inside an old gray hat

So I ran out of there as fast as I could
An old lady asked me for a donation I said that I would
I only had five dollars she said that was good
Then I got lost in the city and ended up in the hood

I saw Stevie Wonder playing on a garbage can
Now why he was doing that I couldn’t understand
He was playing with Louie Armstrong who said he was a fan
They were looking for new cats to from a funk rock band
(harmonica solo)

Then I walked down the alley and saw Richard Pryor
He was running real fast his hair was on fire
He ran into the street got hit by a car with a flat tire
He was so high on coke I doubt he could get any higher

Then I went into a house shaped like a broom
Abe Lincoln and Albus Dumbledore were in the living room
They were playing Halo 3 while smoking red balloons
I said I better wake up from this dream real soon

I looked to my right and saw the Dalai Lama
He was walking down the road with Barack Obama
They were singing folk tunes while living out their dharma
And Britney Spears was crying I want my momma

Then some hippie said to me “Here take this pill”
She said it would make me happy instead it made me ill
So I ran after her up a big hill
But I lost her at the top and found a wind mill

I went inside and found Gandhi and Einstein
They were watching American idol, which should be a crime
They asked me if later on I wanted to dine
I said “No thanks but maybe next time”

Outside I found a river and a canoe
I went right in I didn’t know what to do
Before you know I sunk right through
And woke up from my dream feeling brand new

Lady Love

Lady Love By Jesse Scobie

Chords: Amaj Dmaj Emaj
She sits by the fire watching my face perspire
In the moonlight she sings songs from the romantic age
While monkeys smoke bongs and laught at her
With the jokers, clowns and the teddy bears
They all run away acting scared from the lady upstairs above
My lady love

We go walking though the park at night
Sitting on the grass reading poems by candlelight
We make love under the apple trees right in the open
Where everyone can see but they can’t since it’s dark at night
And looking at the stars I feel alright, but sometimes
Push comes to shove but not with My lady love

The princess says to king may I please have this
Gorgeous diamond ring, he says you can have no such thing
Not until you sing me songs of fairy tales from long ago
Of white angel swans, mystic castles and satin snow
Tell me the story of the two peace doves
Tell me the story of my lady love

I sing to you with my guitar in bed, your naked body
Smelling of red roses from an English garden in the countryside
I say pardon me lady but please don’t hide
I want to travel to far away lands with you
I want to hold your hand all the way through
In a life that’s full of me and my lady love
