In The Horizon (poem)

In The Horizon By Jesse Scobie

Spring time in the windy city
Horses drawn upon the gaze
Soilders march on hills of green
The robin sings the song of day

Through shattered glass you can see
The prince lead his mighty army
To squander the homes of rich and poor
The sun will cry on the land of the free

A child lost in the darkened street
Whispers softly like a turtle dove
"Where is my county? Where is my family?"
They are both lost in seas of shame above

Burning candle flickers in the wind
Shadows grow deep in light's path
Fear will rest when work begins
But not untill there's one last laugh

Unrequited love struck through my past
Ghosts will tell of what's to come
Memories entangled with reality
Emotions drown in what's become

The war will set with the sun in the west
The movements of peace and tranquility
Fall like snow whispering through happiness
The child stands up from the ashes to be free
