Traveling Birthday Wishes

Traveling Birthday Wishes By Jesse Scobie

On the beaches of Normandy, I can feel fire in my veins
Through the Indian Ocean I am alive
From the tops of the Pyramids of Giza I feel no more pain
Sleeping in the Yorkshire fields tonight

Sammy's gotta go fishing and I gotta find my keys
Rachel needs a date for the prom
The Statue of Liberty is crumbling to it's knees
Uncle Sam needs to find a new mom

Happy Birthday, I wish I could feel young again
Happy Birthday, so you think it's time to stay friends
Well let's go and see
Where we want to be

In a sleepy misty garden, the druids make amends
Through the diamond sky I still dream
From the Rocky Mountains I sense all the trends
Swimming in Lake Michigan I am redeemed

Billy has to cash the checks and I need cigarettes
Suzy feels the wind creep in
George Washington's tears are of broken bayonets
Santa Claus is breathing thin

Happy Birthday, I wish I could feel young again
Happy Birthday, so you think it's time to stay friends

Well let's go and see
Where we want to be
See what it all means
In this broken down life machine
Of traveling birthday wishes and midnight dreams..
