Watching The Time Go By By Jesse Scobie
(For My Grandfather Ross Beiler)
Driving the old car down the sunset lit street
Breeze in my face, watching the robins fly high
Daytona looks beautiful beyond the windy trees
A lovely day at the beach watching the time go by
Receiving hugs and kisses from family members
Having sweet iced tea and grandma's apple pie
Seeing the old photographs of smiles, of memories
Everything seems so simple watching the time go by
You're born into a life unknown, in a special place and time
With certain gifts you receive to use before you die
A brilliant mind for helping others and heart for caring
Inspiring the young and restless, watching the time go by
Raised a family of values, virtues and service to others
With a loving wife and mother always present at your side
Father to son again and again, teaching the importance
Of not letting it all slip away, watching the time go by

From The Cold To The Flame
From The Cold To The Flame By Jesse Scobie
From the beginning till the end
From spring's bosom to winter's dark
From the sleepy hollows o f yesteryear
To the snowy tops of a life complete
Truth always stays the same
From the cold to the flame
From children laughing in delight
From serpent's hissing at the walls
From the girls of love long gone
To the acceptance of what is
It will all continue to change
From the cold to the flame
From prisons of doubt and ceilings of fear
From the depths of a poor man's den
From the pools of a rich man's fountain
To seek the heart of nature
Riding on the forgotten train
From the cold to the flame
From a solemn spot on a dreamy hill
From the moon's sweet summer home
From the blessings of a family tree
To the stars of destiny and fortune
Through sunshine and through rain
We break through all the chains
From the cold to the flame
From the beginning till the end
From spring's bosom to winter's dark
From the sleepy hollows o f yesteryear
To the snowy tops of a life complete
Truth always stays the same
From the cold to the flame
From children laughing in delight
From serpent's hissing at the walls

We break through all the chains

Traveling Birthday Wishes
Traveling Birthday Wishes By Jesse Scobie
On the beaches of Normandy, I can feel fire in my veins
Through the Indian Ocean I am alive
From the tops of the Pyramids of Giza I feel no more pain
Sleeping in the Yorkshire fields tonight
Sammy's gotta go fishing and I gotta find my keys
Rachel needs a date for the prom
The Statue of Liberty is crumbling to it's knees
Uncle Sam needs to find a new mom
Happy Birthday, I wish I could feel young again
Happy Birthday, so you think it's time to stay friends
Well let's go and see
Where we want to be
In a sleepy misty garden, the druids make amends
Through the diamond sky I still dream
From the Rocky Mountains I sense all the trends
Swimming in Lake Michigan I am redeemed
Billy has to cash the checks and I need cigarettes
Suzy feels the wind creep in
George Washington's tears are of broken bayonets
Santa Claus is breathing thin
Happy Birthday, I wish I could feel young again
Happy Birthday, so you think it's time to stay friends
Well let's go and see
Where we want to be
See what it all means
In this broken down life machine
Of traveling birthday wishes and midnight dreams..

Theme From A Broken River (Signs Of A Broken Mind)
THEME FROM A BROKEN RIVER (SIGNS OF A BROKEN MIND) By Jesse Scobie
Gm C Eb D F
Lately I've been so lonely, you were the only thing that kept me going
Gm C Eb D F
Lately I've been so broken, feeling so hopeless, the sadness keeps on growing
F/Gm F/Gm Eb D
The past is the past, nothing long lasts except for the pain and the memories glowing
F/Gm F/Gm Eb D
Stuck in a trance, given so many chances, your mind kicks at your blood still flowing
Eb D
No one can see..... and no one can see
Gm F#
what it keeps doing to me
Eb D
No one believes..... and no one believes
Gm F#
anymore in you or me
Eb D
Death is all I can see, death is all they believe
Gm F#
will keep on unfolding
Eb Bb aug Gm D
Here we go and here we go on this path left so frozen
Eb Bb aug Gm D
You'll never hear, you'll never hear all the words left unspoken
(repeat chords from above)
Let's look at who won and what they've become in the face of god's love
Let's shed no more tears, release all the fears, I believe we've had enough
Time moves slowly, keep dreaming mostly of a paradise that is long gone
But dreams are hollow, there's no tomorrow in a world full of so much wrong
No one can see..... and no one can see
what it keeps doing to me
No one believes..... and no one believes
anymore in you or me
Death is all I can see, death is all they believe
will keep on unfolding
Here we go and here we go on this path left so frozen
Can't you see, can't you see all this wounds cut open
We can't escape, we can't escape the fates we've chosen
You'll never hear, you'll never hear all the words left unspoken

Not Just Another Woman (song)
Not Just Another Woman By Jesse Scobie
Ab Gb
People tell me a good woman is hard to find
Db Eb
But I'm just a man who can't keep love off his mind
Ab Eb
I've sat under the lonesome tree, been left in the rain
Cb BM Bb
I've been cheated as much as can be but I've let go of the pain
Ab Gb
My heart's been sown with a thousand little stitches
Db Eb
Was alone at home always wondering what I was missing
Ab Eb
But I knew she would be coming my way
Cb BM Bb
I knew I would be ending my journey that day
A E B F E
She's not just another woman, she's not another fairy tale
A E D C# C B
She's not just another woman, she happens to be my girl
Through day and night, through life and death
My life has been full of empty pages of regret
A failed man cannot find happiness in a bottle
No his soul mate doesn't live in fantasies of tomorrow
My brain's been heavy and weak from melodrama love
Some memories still hurt but they're not what I'm thinking of
No I'm thinking of you darling and your golden smile
I'm thinking of how my life is back in style
She's not just another woman, she's not another oyster pearl
She's not just another woman, she happens to be my girl
Bridge:
My lady in love, my lady in joy
My lady in sadness, mother of my girl and boy
My lady in longing, my lady in ecstasy
My lady in madness when she's sitting next to me
She's not just another woman, she's not another beauty with curls
She's not just another woman, she happens to be my girl

I Just Wasn't Made For These Times (free verse poem)
I JUST WASN'T MADE FOR THESE TIMES By Jesse Scobie
You can see the signs on the highway
They tell you lies with truth that's sad
Your mind wanders every which way
Till its full of ghosts some good some bad
With perceptions that sting like scorpions
Who feed on the illusion that time is a man who watches bananas fall out of the moon while sucking his thumb. Who is this in the telephone speaking to me in tongues of rainbow icicles who laugh at bunnies who have sex with doctors from Obama's mind. I believe when I talk I am opening a voice for the souls who try to reach inside the glass window. They are trapped and I think I can help them believe in age and wisdom and when I walk outside I see the beautiful colors which go insane and then flip out into birds and walruses who flip coins to see who makes love at the fountain at the bottom of the white house where some people think destiny trickles down like water into mouths of needy. Some people buy their love at supermarkets and mega stores I like to think of love like a candy which sometimes I devour outright even though I know it hurt my teeth and blood sugar in the end, pleasure and pain go hand and hand to feel what it is like to have consciousness and perception. Subjectivity is great when you feel the ride of tomorrow at your feet, don't bend over for things that do not matter and life is going to be okay.
Buddha is watching over you, Jesus is in the driver's seat watching the waves pour down over the valleys. God is in the back seat laughing about how fun school was in the beginning and I sit here smiling thinking of my fetus developing into the genius of thought and how it breaks through a glass ceiling where feelings run free and dreams are able to weave through and bless those with the ability to experience them fully. Time is on our side and until we die we can appreciate everything incrementally, it's cool to see yourself appear in a thought, like a snowflake falling towards the earth not knowing where it's headed. It's just going on a journey, you don't think about it you just experience the sensation of falling, of a certain thing called time going by.
The truth is everything is becoming towards a single goal of what everyone expresses to be different things through a singularity. The mind cannot speak for the soul it is a bad translator who confuses it's purposes with it's instincts and takes for granted the ability to exist at all. We must think like the snowflake and live like we're falling through a journey in the moment without having consequences in thought, without the pleasure, the pain, the feelings of separateness, this is what makes things more than great, it is the ingenious of the human experience. This is life in it's fullest.
