Mother Earth Blues By Jesse Scobie
Saw the trees burn in sorrow to the ground
Yes I saw the trees burn in sorrow to the ground
Where’s the love for nature gone, its nowhere to be found
Clouds are turning black in neglect from pain
I see the Clouds are turning black in neglect from pain
As we all stand caught in the suffering rain
Sun ain’t shining like it used to before
Sun ain’t shining don’t see no light anymore
You better act quickly, before you close the door
Factories are smoking poison gas unto earth
We keep breathing it into our lungs till it hurts
Gotta end the madness and start a whole rebirth
I can see the icebergs floating down the river
I can see all that’s left of it floating down the river
Just the thought of us creating it gives me the shivers
Greedy politicians ignoring the elephant in the room
Greedy politicians helping to further our doom
Gotta have some truth spoken here real soon
Birds are dying falling from the crumbling sky
Fish are plagued in the sickened waters till they die
Well we just sit here and wonder to ourselves “Why?”
Hear the children crying “Where’s the playground”
You can hear the children crying “Where’s the playground”
Well the forests, streams and grass are nowhere to be found
There’s some people trying, trying to make a change
Organizations formed to rebuild what’s been slain
They’re just trying to get everybody on the save earth train
Time’s a running short, got make up our minds
Time’s running short, gotta look through the lines
Well we can’t say we weren’t warned, we just ignored the signs
