The Spirit Within
Thunder howls in the distant moonlight
Can’t feel the pain, just feeling numb
The withered cornfields whisper softly
While the lonesome trees speak in tongue
I’ve traveled with bags of shame and glory
I’ve cross the roads of jealousy
Felt the touch of the raging bull
Felt the sense of deep irony
But I still go on
Everyone needs somewhere to begin
A place to reinvent yourself
To heal the spirit within
Temptation shoots through the heart
Bleeds sympathy into the mouths
Of the hungry orphans of the night
From the soulless desert drought
I’ve been blessed with of a life of gold
A treasure chest full of emptiness
It was all I ever needed
It relived me of my shamefulness
But I still go on
Everyone needs somewhere to begin
A place to have a second chance
To heal the spirit within
You drive out in your naked car
Judgment set ablaze on the road
Try to escape the fate of the day
Until tomorrow never knows
Your shame builds the walls
That surround your house and mind
Its too late to hear their calls
You’ve already seen the signs
But you still go on
Everyone needs somewhere to begin
A place of solitude
A place free of suffering
Eternal oneness on a pin
To heal the spirit within
