Watching The Time Go By (poem)

Watching The Time Go By By Jesse Scobie
(For My Grandfather Ross Beiler)

Driving the old car down the sunset lit street
Breeze in my face, watching the robins fly high
Daytona looks beautiful beyond the windy trees
A lovely day at the beach watching the time go by

Receiving hugs and kisses from family members
Having sweet iced tea and grandma's apple pie
Seeing the old photographs of smiles, of memories
Everything seems so simple watching the time go by

You're born into a life unknown, in a special place and time
With certain gifts you receive to use before you die
A brilliant mind for helping others and heart for caring
Inspiring the young and restless, watching the time go by

Raised a family of values, virtues and service to others
With a loving wife and mother always present at your side
Father to son again and again, teaching the importance
Of not letting it all slip away, watching the time go by
